For All Your Investing Needs

Welcome to the Equities Section of Options Realm

Today Sunday April 1st I have decided to bring another aspect to the ever changing layout of the site.  This will be a overview about what I think are important events that should be looked at during the upcoming week.  These articles will be posted every weekend about what I am going to be looking at in the markets.  For this upcoming week we have a few things that need to be looked at.

The first thing that is going to influence the markets this week is the free trade agreement that South Korea and the Unites States have reached after over 10 months of negotiating.  The deal will now have to be ratified by each countries legislator but it is a definite step in further the relationship between the two countries.

The next thing that we will look at for this upcoming week is the Arena Resources which reports earnings Monday morning before the bell.  The Wall Street has earnings expectations at $.46 a share.  On Friday ARD saw both the call and put options trade down with anticipation of the earnings news.

Staying with the oil plays other stocks that I expect to move this week are the oil stocks.  Oil prices are nearing their yearly highs and spring has arrived.  Historically we have seen oil prices rise through the summer season.  A few stocks that I would watch over the next week are XOM and VLO.  Both are great companies that generate huge cash flow numbers.  Lastly, in regards to oil it is important to keep track of the USO which is the United States Oil Fund.  The USO is a index traded fund which invest primarily in futures contracts of light and sweet crude oil traded on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Lastly we will be monitoring the Take Over news of Tribune Co. which trades under the ticker symbol TRB.  The latest takeover offer for TRB is $34 a share which is just under $2 more a share then the current market price.
